NOVAMONT is a Benefit Company, a certified B Corp and a global leader in the production of bioplastics and the development of biochemicals and bioproducts from renewable sources.
The use of renewable raw materials is one of the qualifying elements of Novamont’s biodegradable and compostable bioplastics and we are working to progressively increase the renewable content of our products. Within the CBE-JU IA ELLIPSE project, Novamont is dedicating effort to the validation of PHA-based bioplastics derived from byproducts from the pulp and paper industry for agricultural applications. In particular, Novamont aims to exploit the ability of PHA di degrade in mesophilic environments to develop proprietary biomaterial formulations suitable for producing innovative biodegradable in soil fertilizer granules with tunable kinetics of nutrients release.
These activities will provide not just a novel fertilizer product, but also an effective solution that does not generate microplastics in soil at the end of its life and could be valorised in specialized agricultural sectors.
