The ELLIPSE project was presented at the 19th IWA World Conference on Anaerobic Digestion, held in Valencia, Spain, from 9 to 13 June 2026.
Recognised as one of the leading international conferences dedicated to anaerobic technologies, IWA AD19 brought together academics, researchers, engineers, practitioners, policymakers, and representatives from the public and private sectors to exchange knowledge, present recent advancements, and discuss the future of anaerobic digestion.
On Thursday, 11 June, Riccardo Lo Coco from the University of Verona presented ELLIPSE during the session “Adding value to liquid streams and digestate”, scheduled from 16:40 to 17:20.

His oral presentation focused on the recovery of ammonia from anaerobic digestate through pilot-scale membrane contactor technology. This approach aims to transform waste streams into valuable fertiliser products, contributing to more circular nutrient management and supporting the development of sustainable solutions for resource recovery.
ELLIPSE’s participation in IWA AD19 represented an important opportunity to share the project’s work with an international scientific and technical community, while highlighting its contribution to the valorisation of organic streams and the advancement of circular bio-based systems.
